Jackie’s Notebook: 2015 Color of the Year — Coral Reef (SW 6606)
This buoyant, living color is neither too pink, too orange nor too red. Think of it as the perfect mélange of all three vivacious hues. Its floral notes lend it an upbeat and optimistic vibe, perfectly suited to celebrate a mid-decade year that’s poised for renewal and revitalization.
While Coral Reef has the chutzpah to stand alone and bring laser-light attention to a single object or wall, its outgoing personality begs for company. Some great partners that make this color truly sing include fluffy Cotton White (SW 7104), sneaky Black Fox (SW 7020), regal Baroness (SW 6837) and fresh Paradise (SW 6720).
Relax it ever so slightly by combining it with warm neutrals like Sedate Gray (SW 6169) or buttery yellows like Hubbard Squash (SW 0044). Driftwood, medium wood tones and metal finishes are great complements to this flower-garden hue. But for a vintage quality that’s hard to beat, pair Coral Reef with aged matte brass.
Coral Reef surprises us with its unexpected versatility: It can be used in traditional, vintage, cottage and contemporary applications. We encourage you to add this carefree color to your palette, and watch your creativity blossom.
