Video Transcription:

My name is Bruce Rosenbaum, my company is Mod Vic and we do Steampunk art and design.

I had restored my own house here, in Sharon, Massachusetts.

When I was bringing in antiques and salvage, I didn't really want to just have it sit there and look pretty.

I wanted it to do something and I wanted it to be functional, to be interactive.

So I started to merge technology into the period pieces and it wasn’t until a couple years later, people were coming through the house and saying, “Hey you are Steampunking.” “Steam what?”

That sounds weird and wonderful at the same time.

The idea is that we're going back in time.

We're going back to another period, where we value what was made during that period.

There was an emphasis on ingenuity and innovation.

Steampunk is about going back and grabbing those objects and saying:

We're going to figure out a way to work in modern technology: appliances, conveniences and have this beautiful design bring it together to give it new life.

Mellie and I are a ying and yang team.

I'm the visionary and the project manager.

Melanie helps with the concepts, but also choosing colors and coming up with ideas to bring all the pieces together.

I think in Steampunk we talk a lot about reuse and repurposing.

I think this is a perfect application for colors in your home.

Looking through the Sherwin-Williams palette, some of the colors that I think really work well with Steampunk are the Loyal Blue, the Chamois and the Rookwood Dark Red, which is one of the colors that was from the historical collection.

If you're heading towards a Steampunk look, I think these are really perfect references to use.

When we found Steampunk, and we found it together, all of a sudden we understood that this is what we've been waiting for.

It all has come together in one word: Steampunk.
