How to Paint a Wood Fence
Boost your home's curb appeal and give your wooden fence new life with a fresh coat of paint. Just follow the steps below for an easy fence painting project.
Cost: $$
Skill Level: Beginner
Duration: 1 day
Prep
If the fence is new construction, make sure that any holes are filled in and smooth any rough surfaces with sandpaper. The fence should be completely dry and smooth before painting.
Paint First Side
Once the primer is dry, start on one side of the fence and apply Emerald® Exterior Acrylic Latex Paint. Use a roller to roll the paint on the flat surfaces of the fence, and use your brush to touch up the rest of the fence.
Paint Second Side
After you finish the first side of the fence, repeat step 3 on the other side of the fence until the entire fence is painted.
Apply Second Coat
Allow the first coat to completely dry and apply a second coat if needed.
