  1. 1

Begin by using a dry rag or dust spray to clean the surface of the table.

Use a primer for best color coverage when you’re painting over a dark surface. Ask your local Sherwin-Williams store for other priming tips.

  2. 2

Dip your foam brush in the stirred can of paint.

For small projects around the house, a foam brush is the perfect painting tool. Don't completely dip the foam in the paint to make cleaning it easier.

  3. 3

Apply the first coat of paint and wait 4 hours for it to dry.

  4. 4

Allow the second coat of paint to dry before touching. See your can of paint for specific drying instructions.

  5. 5

Clean up: Always clean your brushes for future use. Learn how to properly store and dispose of paint here.

Project Overview

Don't let the dull brown color of a wooden end table at a garage sale turn you away. Color can make the old look new again. Project and images by Anne Sage of The City Sage.
