If the fence is new construction, make sure that any holes are filled in and smooth any rough surfaces with sandpaper. The fence should be completely dry and smooth before painting.

Next, apply Sherwin-Williams Exterior Latex Wood Primer using a roller and a brush.

Once the primer is dry, start on one side of the fence and apply Sherwin-Williams Emerald Exterior Acrylic Latex Paint. Use the roller to roll the paint on the flat surfaces of the fence, and use a brush to touch up the rest of the fence.

After one side of the fence is finished, repeat Step 3 on the other side of the fence until the entire fence is painted.

Allow the first coat to completely dry and apply a second coat if needed.
