  1. 1

    Prep

Wash surface of dresser with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly.

To prepare the surface to accept paint, use #220 sanding pad and lightly sand surface of dresser that will be painted to remove existing finishes from stained or painted wood. This also helps smooth down any splinters or rough patches found in raw wood.

If sanding down to bare wood, prime with Premium Wall & Wood Primer.

  2. 2

    Paint Base Color

Using a small paint roller, add two coats of a base color (we used SW 7006 Extra White) to the drawer fronts. Allow at least two hours of dry time in between coats.

  3. 3

    Plan

Plan out the design that you would like to create.

Using a pencil, sketch out your design on a sketch pad. Use the sketch as a guide for placing, tracing and painting your chosen pattern.

  4. 4

Mark Your Design on the Dresser

Using a tape measure and/or straight edge, mark your chosen design on the front of the dresser with a pencil.

  5. 5

    Tape

Tape off shapes containing the same color within your chosen design.

Tip: Start with the lightest color first.

  6. 6

    Paint

Paint your first color on applicable areas. We used SW 6496 Oceanside.

Using a paintbrush or mini-roller, add color inside of the taped of the areas.

After first color is applied. Let dry for 1-2 hours.

    Remove tape.

  7. 7

    Paint Secondary Color

Repeat steps 5 and 6 for secondary color by taping off the other shapes.

Let dry for 2-4 hours. You should wait at least overnight to tape over any area you painted in steps 5 and 6. Use very low tack tape to avoid pulling off the previous coats of paint.

    Enjoy!
