Clean
Wash the surface of the door with a degreasing dish soap and rinse with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
Prep
Use sandpaper to smooth the surface, and wipe the dust off with a clean, damp rag.
If the door has not already been painted or primed, apply a coat of primer. Wait for it to completely dry before painting.
Paint
Use an angle trim brush to paint the paneled areas and around the hinges and hardware.
Tip: Remove hardware ahead of time to make painting your doors quicker and easier. Reattach once the paint is fully dry.
Tip: Not sure how much paint you need? Try our Paint Calculator for a helpful estimate.
Apply Second Coat
Once the door is covered in one layer of paint, allow it to dry at least four hours before applying a second coat.
Finish
After applying a second coat of paint, allow the paint to dry four hours or overnight for best results.
