Every color has its own unique personality.
But when you combine certain hues together in a space, there's harmony.
Two simple color schemes using similar and complementary colors make it easy to create color harmony in your home.
Similar, also known as analogous colors are hues that resemble each other, such as yellow and green.
They're often found in nature and help to create a serene design.
Choose one color to dominate and a second to highlight.
A third color can also be used as an accent.
Complementary colors are hues that are opposite of each other, such as yellow and purple.
The visual contrast between these colors is dynamic and works well when you want something to stand out.
Some complementary schemes, using intense shades of pure colors, can be jarring.
Choose lighter subdued colors for a more upscale look.
Not sure if a color scheme is right for you?
Simply try a small area or accent wall.
Color harmony isn't just limited to wall color.
Use accessories to carry a color scheme throughout your room.
