How to Paint a Wood Table & Chairs
Don't toss out those old tables and chairs! Repurpose them and give them a second life with an application of chalky finish paint. With this unique decorative approach, you're sure to enjoy them again for years to come.

Supplies for This Project
- Purdy® Clearcut® Elite Glide™
- Purdy Revolution 9" Frame
- Purdy® Marathon™ Multi-Packs
- American Trade Products 9 in. Economy Roller Tray
- Sand paper
- Damp paper towel
- Paint tray
Sand
Lightly sand the surface of the table and chairs.
Clean
Using a damp paper towel, wipe off any remaining debris.
Paint Edges
Once the surface is dry, use a medium-sized paint brush to paint the edges of the table and chairs with chalky finish paint.
We used the following colors for our project:
- Jargon Jade SW 6753 (table)
- Front Porch SW 7651 (left chair)
- Byte Blue SW 6498 (chair on table)
- Aquarium SW 6767 (right chair)
- Oceanside SW 6496 (center chair)
Roll Surfaces
Use a roller to paint the larger surfaces, such as the tabletop.
Apply Second Coat
Allow paint to dry before recoating or retouching; we recommend waiting at least one hour.
Then touch up any areas that need any extra attention.
Enjoy!
Allow paint to set before sitting on it or moving any decor, plants, etc. back onto the surface.
