How to Paint a Picture Frame
Picture frame painting is just the project to give any space a quick, vibrant facelift. These old frames just need a fresh coat of color to make them hang-worthy and voila, you've got the perfect accent piece for those nostalgic portraits!

- 1½" Purdy® XL™ Dale™
- Contractor Series® Canvas Drop Cloth 12oz

Prep
Begin by wiping off your frames with a damp rag to make sure the surface is clean.
Lay down a drop cloth or old bed sheet while the frames dry.

Stir
Use a 3-in-1 tool to gently open the paint cans and then lightly stir the paint.
Paint
Use the brush to apply the first coat of paint.
Allow the paint to dry for 4 hours before applying the second coat.
Ensure that frame coatings are as even as possible.
Tip: While you are waiting to apply your second coat, keep your brushes from drying out by wrapping them in plastic or foil.
Retouch
Be sure to read the label on your paint can to see dry time.
Let the frames dry for at least 1 hour to touch.
Tip: Always clean your brushes for future use. Learn how to properly store and dispose of paint here.
