New resources — including an innovative product certification program and a product listing that specifically addresses transparency requirements — are now available to help our contractor and specifier customers successfully achieve sustainability, health and well-being initiatives.
As a company, we strive to demonstrate leadership in providing product transparency as it relates to green guidelines demanded by the market. We’re proud to be the first paint manufacturer to be certified in the new Product Lens™ program from Underwriters Laboratories (UL). We’ve developed website resources to help guide you and your specifiers through new LEED® v4 requirements, which were enacted in November 2016. These resources are available to you at www.swgreenspecs.com, which includes a listing of Sherwin-Williams products that have been independently certified by UL and contribute toward satisfying specific EQ credits and LEED v4 requirements. The listing also identifies products that satisfy standards set by the California Air Resources Board.
Designed to help contractors and specifiers meet green guidelines and satisfy Materials Ingredients disclosure credits outlined by LEED v4, Product Lens is an ingredient disclosure tool that provides hazard information across the entire lifecycle of a given product. Sherwin-Williams ProMar 200 Zero VOC Interior Latex Paint was the first product to be certified by the program.
“By partnering with UL on its innovative Product Lens program, we can provide credible information to contractors, specifiers and their partners in a format that is easy to understand and act upon,” says Steve Revnew, senior vice president of product innovation at Sherwin-Williams. “We felt strongly about partnering with UL on Product Lens because its approach is both rigorous and relevant to the coatings industry. This breakthrough program is another first we’re very pleased to add to our record.”
UL Environment is the independent third-party entity that evaluates Product Lens reports.
“The UL Product Lens report adds value to manufacturers such as Sherwin-Williams who strive to be transparent in their chemical disclosures,” says Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager of UL Environment.
