How to Transform a Room with a Multi-Sheen Finish

Add dimension to any room by painting the walls, doors and trim the same color in different sheens. Follow these instructions to transform your living space with a sleek and modern touch.

STEP 1

Clean

Clean the surface of walls, trim, and door with a bucket of soapy water and a sponge to remove dirt and oils before painting.

Sand

Use a sanding sponge to sand the surface of the door then wipe excess dust with a damp cloth.

Tape Off Walls

Next, use painter’s tape to section off the wall area.

STEP 4

Edge Walls

Use a 2” brush to apply Emerald® Interior Acrylic Latex Paint in Flat — we used the shade Distance SW 6243 — to the edges of the walls.

STEP 5

Paint Walls

With a roller, paint the remainder of the areas using the “W” technique, then let dry.

STEP 6

Tape Off Doors

Next, use painter’s tape to section off the doors from the trim.

STEP 7

Edge Doors

Use your 2” brush to apply the same shade of Emerald® Interior Acrylic Latex Paint in Semi-Gloss to the edges of the door.

STEP 8

Paint Doors

With a mini roller, paint the remainder of the areas.

STEP 9

Tape Again

Once paint is dry, tape off the freshly painted section in preparation for applying the next sheen.

Paint Trim

Use your 2” brush to apply the same shade of Emerald® Interior Acrylic Latex Paint in Satin to the trim.

Let Dry

Let dry and enjoy this stunning transformation!
