Find Inspiration
To help plan your reading nook design, draw inspiration from your favorite vacation photo. We chose a picture of a charming colonial-style home in Charleston.
Choose Colors
Use the Sherwin-Williams Match a Photo tool on the web or download our ColorSnap® App to create a to create a custom color palette with colors from your photo. We chose neutrals as well as a few bright accent colors.
Paint Walls
Using Emerald® Interior Acrylic Latex Paint, we started with cozy neutral Reliable White SW 6091 for the top three quarters of the wall and Extra White SW 7006 for the remaining bottom quarter.
Tip: Not sure how much paint you need? Try our Paint Calculator for a helpful estimate.

Add an Accent
Introduce your first pop of color with an accent element. We went with a vertical stripe in Jazz Age Coral SW 0058.
Paint Shelves
If you'd like to incorporate more colors from your photo, add coordinating shelves. We painted our floating hexagonal shelves with Easy Green SW 6450, Silvermist SW 7621, Alyssum SW 6589 and Jazz Age Coral SW 0058.
Style
Time to decorate your cute reading nook. Keep things cozy with pillows, blankets, and a rocking chair. Add some personality with books, knick knacks or anything that brings back vacation memories.
