  1. 1

Using a jig saw, cut the 2x4 to the height of the lowest arch you want to make. Round out the end of the 2x4 with the saw (you can use a cup or other rounded item as a template).

  2. 2

Tape as many carpenter pencils as you want arches to your straight object 2” apart (we used six) to make a guide.

  3. 3

Starting at the center of your wall, place the straight edge of your cut 2x4 against the floor and flush with the wall. Use the level to make sure it’s straight.

  4. 4

Keeping an edge against the 2x4, angle the guide so all of the pencils are touching the wall and draw it up and around the arch, and back down the other side.

  5. 5

Continue drawing the arches until the wall is filled.

  6. 6

On to painting! To create the ombré effect, start with Softened Green SW 6177 on the first (shortest) arch. Don’t worry about getting the lines straight – organic lines add to the whimsical effect.

  7. 7

In a paint pail, mix one part Softened Green with one part white paint. Paint the second arch. Make sure to mix enough so you have leftover paint for the next series of arches.

  8. 8

To the remaining mixture, add the same amount of white paint to dilute the color further. Paint it on the third arch.

  9. 9

Continue mixing the color mixture with equal parts white paint and painting the arches until all of the arches have been painted.

    The BEFORE & AFTER…

Project Overview

This simple mural concept uses only two colors to create a beautiful boho ombré effect. And the good news is that imperfection only adds to the charm and whimsical feel of this mural, which would make a beautiful accent to any bedroom or nursery.
